About the Lab and My Mentorship Style:
Thanks for your interest in the lab's work! To share a bit about my mentorship style, I value a collaborative, supportive approach that endeavors to build students' skills and carve out a clear path for them moving forward. I try to have clear guidance and expectations while being available to answer questions and problem-solve when barriers arise. I strive to encourage my mentees to find balance between personal and professional responsibilities and goals. I appreciate that the lab is fantastic at encouraging one another and being there to support each other.
In my lab, there are many opportunities for leadership and supporting others' work. We all work together, exploring projects that pertain to grant-funded studies as well as our own personal interests. Together, we have been able to publish and present a fair amount each year, although we focus on quality over quantity. Feel free to reach out if you have interest in learning more.
I conduct research that broadly targets (a) offering efficient, effective training and support strategies to provide evidence-based behavioral interventions in high need, under-resourced settings, and (b) the impact of these supports and interventions on students' learning outcomes and social/behavioral wellness, particularly for minoritized youth. She is continuing a line of research related to developing and testing an assessment tool for culturally and contextually relevant school-based behavioral supports.
I am an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director for the School Psychology Ph.D. Program in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology at University of Massachusetts Boston. I'm the (a) Vice President of Education, Training and Scientific Affairs for Division 16 of the American Psychological Association, (b) Chair of the Society of the Study of School Psychology (SSSP) Early Career Forum, (c) an Associate Editor for Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation as well as, (d) an editorial board member of several journals.
I've collaborated with the team to co-author over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and present over 150 regional and national conference presentations.
I have three amazing kids, an awesome husband, and enjoys reading, working out, traveling, and drinking coffee!
